Do I still need health insurance?+
DPC is not a replacement for health insurance — it replaces your primary care copays and most routine visits. We recommend pairing your Akwaaba Clinic membership with a catastrophic or high-deductible plan (or a health share plan) for coverage on hospitalizations, specialist care, and major procedures.
Is DPC legal in New Jersey?+
Yes. Direct Primary Care is legal in New Jersey and does not require a license under the NJ Healthcare Reform Act. Your membership fee is a flat monthly retainer for primary care services — not an insurance premium.
Is the membership an insurance product?+
No. Your Akwaaba Clinic membership is a direct service contract — a private agreement between you and Dr. Kordie for primary care services. It is not an insurance policy, not regulated as insurance, and cannot be billed to or used as a substitute for health insurance. For hospitalizations, specialist visits, or major procedures, you will still need separate health coverage.
Can I use my HSA to pay the membership fee?+
Yes, as of January 1, 2026. A federal ruling now allows HSA funds to be used for Direct Primary Care membership fees. This makes your Akwaaba Clinic membership fully HSA-eligible.
What's included in the $25/month?+
Your membership includes unlimited in-person and telehealth visits, direct text messaging with Dr. Kordie, preventive care, chronic disease management, prescription management, and wholesale lab work pricing. No copays, no per-visit fees.
How do I contact Dr. Kordie outside office hours?+
Members can text Dr. Kordie directly at any time. For urgent matters, he will respond as promptly as possible. This is one of the core advantages of DPC over traditional primary care.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Absolutely. There are no long-term contracts. You can cancel your membership at any time with no cancellation fees or penalties. We simply ask for reasonable notice.
Do you see children and families?+
Yes. The $40/month Family plan covers all household members, including children. Dr. Kordie provides comprehensive pediatric primary care as part of the family membership.

Akwaaba Clinic is located at 134 Evergreen Pl, Suite 703, East Orange, NJ 07018. Telehealth visits are available to patients throughout New Jersey and New York State.
